Precinct 3

Precinct 3

This precinct is mainly made up of historic buildings. These were mostly warehouses that were an integral part of the vital harbour activity. Because of their heritage status (at a variety of listing levels) the vacant and derelict buildings have had a chequered history.

Although the heritage controls have been limiting, they have managed to save most of the stock by revamping it into commercial spaces that thereby preserve the historic character of the urban condition.

This has proved to be positive as many of the buildings have generated interest in the Point development, potentially to be bought up and redeveloped into a variety of commercial, retail and hotel developments.

This has brought a resurgence to the area as these buildings currently form the interface into the precinct.
