Drakensburg Mountains
The Drakensberg Mountains or uKhahlamba is a 200km+ mountain range and the largest portion of the area falls in the Province of KwaZulu-Natal. The Drakensberg Mountains, with its sheer cliffs and snow capped mountains in winter, tower over ravines and lush bush.
The Drakensberg plays host to a large variety of activities. For the adrenaline junkies there are activities such as: abseiling, sheer rock and ice climbing as well as white water rafting. A helicopter ride over the Drakensberg is the ideal way to see the breathtaking landscape from a different perspective. The Drakensberg with trails on both the upper and low slopes are also the ideal place for hikers of all fitness levels. The Drakensberg is home to a huge variety of plant and animal life, and birding is extremely popular, as there are over 280 species in the area.
